Production Blog: Final Review

Image
We have finally finished our final task. Now we must move forward to our final review. Once we began reviewing, we noticed that some of our expressions and conventions are not exaggerated. This made our work seem dull. If we wanted to amplify our task, we needed to find a way to exaggerate it. For the expressions that were not exaggerated, we decided to reshoot the scene. We gathered all of our equipment. I headed to her house to reshoot the scenes. We needed the same props as the previous scenes. The same costumes as previous scenes. The same lighting as the scenes we did get right. We tried not to make anything seem out of place from our other scenes. Now that we have everything the same, we shot our scenes again. This time all of our emotions were exaggerated. Now it was time for us to edit our new scenes. While wanted our color schemes to pop out and be easily seen. We wanted to show the zooms and all the camera movements. In this remake, we did everything that we wanted. Our film

After watching our work we compared it to other opening scenes. In popular horror films there are plenty elements that give it the suspenseful feeling. We decided to use another popular editing application. "iMovie" is exclusive to Apple devices. Although we have not used it in a long time, it is not something we are new to. We went through the same steps of editing on iMovie, but used different transitions and fonts. We found that one of the applications offered more effects than the other. We used the application that we found offered better effects for our genre. The application with more sudden transitions. The one that had a better color scheme. The one that was better for editing in general. We compared both of our final tasks. One of them was obviously better than the other. We ended up choosing the task done on Capcut. We felt the work done on it was more professional. This task would be more entertaining than the task done on iMovie.

Production Blog: Spicing it Up

Now that all of our scenes our done, it is time to edit it. The app that my partner and I will use to put my final task together is Capcut. Both of us have previously used CapCut for our own work and our own enjoyment. We both already have a previous account so there is no signing up. I can quickly and easily get started. The first task that we had to do was trim my scenes to the desired length. A few of my scenes ended up being a little too long. Some of the other scenes had a few seconds of us acting out of character. Extra time like this had to be gone before I could put the task together. Once we were finished with trimming extra seconds, we put my scenes together. This was fastest task in our final task. Putting all the scenes in order was quick and easy. After getting all my scenes in order, I focused on transitions. I did not want my transitions to be too flashy. Instead, I made them clean and simple. After getting all this ready I was nearing my final task. Putting the song in

Production Blog: Finishing Our Film

Today is what my partner and I planned to be our final day of blogging. It had to be the same as the previous days. I got the same costume from my closet. I headed over to her house. Put all of our props in place. Made sure we had the same lighting. Now it is time for us to begin filming the last of our movie. My partner and I are extremely dedicated to finishing our film. We are willing to do anything to finish our film. The process has been long and tedious. We were ready for filming. We began our last scenes but we had to hurry. We were running out of time and it was getting late. We were in a slight rush to get it done before my mom decided it was time for us to go home. With only a few scenes left to film we were going to get it done. We managed our time wisely and we finished our film. There were a few mistakes that forced us to reshoot a scene. A little bit of it felt rushed, but we were glad it is all over. Now it is time to move on to our next task. We have to move on to edit

Production Blog: Finishing Our Task

My partner and I decided we need to focus and get a huge portion our filming done. We watched over the scenes that we already filmed and were not impressed. We thought that we could easily do better. We decided that we should start over fresh. This time we entered more determined. Wanted to feel as if we were real actors. Once we started over, we tried to implement all our conventions. Our costumes were straight from our closets. We utilized different angles. We showed different camera movements. We even added the use of sounds. Our main prop which was a doll was designed to look like one of our actors. We wanted to make it seem as if the inanimate object came to life out of thin air. Scene by scene we got different shots in. There was one scene where the camera was moving following two characters. The person holding the camera alternated between the characters in the film. There were scenes that had to be shot twice due to the camera shaking in the hands of the cameraman. There were a

For our filming, we did not plan to take too much time to film. My partner and I are easily at one another's access. We planned to do all of the filming at my partner's house. All the scenes would be done in one day. We did not have the funds to buy a camera. We came together and decided that we would film our task on our phones. I have an iPhone 11 and she has an iPhone 13, both with quality cameras. Most of the scenes would be shot in the bedrooms and the living room. Before we began filming we cleaned anything that was a distraction to our film. We had to go through different websites and stores to find a doll that we like. Once we got all our props together and placed them in their spots. For our final task we decided that we wanted to film in order. We wanted every scene to feel authentic and have emotion. We wanted to use our conventions to the best of our ability to make this task feel real. Once we began filming we came to a not surprising realization. We are not good

Production Blog: Picking Our Music

Image
Before we began filming, my partner and I had to decide what music we were gonna pick. Based off our genre and pitch, we wanted something suspenseful. We wanted to avoid the issues regarding asking an artist to use their music. Instead of asking for permission to use a song, we decided to use royalty free music. There are hundreds of royalty free music websites on the internet. Through surfing these websites we can find a song that'll be perfect for our final task. One website that we came across was "epidemicsound.com". This website offered plenty of songs that my partner and I liked. The songs created the feeling that you'd find in a horror film. That feeling where you do not know what happens next. That feeling where you are worried for a character. That feeling where you know a scare is coming. This was the exact feeling that we wanted our song to give the audience. My partner and I ended up agreeing on a song that we both liked. The song was eerie, and suspensefu
